Health Workshop with ACCA -Stockport PCT & Stockport LINks.
Tuesday October 7th at 5.30 - 7.30pm (Food included)
Location:Well Being Centre, Graylaw House, Chestergate, Stockport, SK1 1LZ
Stockport PCT & Stockport Local Involvement Network (the LINk) want to hear your views about your health needs and the health services you receive. We recognise that people from different ethnic groups and people of different religious backgrounds have varying health needs and expectations and we want to ensure that our services understand these needs and are responding to them.
But to help us do this we need to hear your views and thoughts!
We will be holding a workshop with ACCA which will provide us with an opportunity to talk to people from Stockport’s Black & Caribbean community on Tuesday October 7th at 5.30 - 7.30pm (buffet food included).
The feedback and information gathered from this workshop will be used to inform the development of the PCTs Single Equality Scheme which, in part, will address and set priorities around the varying health inequalities and needs of Stockport’s Black and Minority Ethnic communities. Feedback will also be used to inform the future work of Stockport LINks, which, when launched in October, will be a forum through which local people can influence local health and social care services, as both the Council and the PCT are required to listen and respond to its findings.
We understand that giving feedback to people who have given up their time to talk to us about our services is important, and so we commit to providing participants with feedback on the workshop and how any information has been used. We will do this via ACCA, and will do so by December.
For further information about the workshop please contact Collette Upton on 0161 426 5707 or collette.upton@stockport-pct.nhs.uk or, for information on Stockport LINk please call Maria Kildunne on 477 8479

3rd October 2008 - BLACK HISTORY MONTH
IN CONJUNCTION WITH STOCKPORT COUNCIL
The theme is ‘Participation and Engagement’.
After more than 10 years, Black History Month (BHM) continues to grow in size and profile, in recognition of our rich cultures in Stockport Borough.
BHM has been celebrated across the UK every October for over 30 years, each year growing from strength to strength. Black History Month originated in America in 1926 in response to people of Africa descent being classified as a race that had not made any contribution to human civilisation.
This view of Black people has led to historic injustices such as slavery and apartheid as well as continuing social inequalities throughout the world.
With this backdrop, ACCA (in conjunction with SMBC) see it as a time when we can highlight and celebrate the achievements of our Black community and uncover hidden history about our communities.
Please note: This event is by invitation only and for adults only.
